Reducing the environmental impact of making
and using automobiles is a core emphasis at Toyoda Gosei.
|
Our
continuing advances in polymers and other weight-saving materials
make automobiles lighter and more fuelefficient. We also promote fuelconserving
weight savings by reducing numbers of parts with simplified designs,
including modules.
Recycling, too, is an important way of reducing the impact of automobiles
and other products on the environment. With two other Toyota Group
companies, we have developed devulcanization technology, for example,
that overcomes the traditionally daunting challenge of recycling rubber.
We are making steady progress in minimizing the environmental impact
of our manufacturing operations. Recycling eliminated
landfill waste at our main plants worldwide by the end of 2003.We
have earned ISO 14001 certifications for environmental management
at all of our principal plants in the world. And we continue
to broaden our environmental activities, alone and in cooperation
with suppliers. |
