Upgrading
the tactile feel and appearance is our development theme.
The car pillar supports the roof and has the same role as a house
pillar. The pillar garnish is an interior part to decorate the pillar.
As the tactile feel and appearance of the pillar affect the impression
and atmosphere inside a car, we put an emphasis on improving their
quality.
Car pillars covered with fabric are increasingly used for European
cars these days. In the light of this trend, TG started to develop
a pillar garnish with a buckskin look and texture. |
Implantation
method using both static electricity and air is applied to auto parts.
A pile (a certain length of textile thread) was implanted to a base
material using static electricity to enrich texture. Since pile is
implanted in an almost vertical direction to a base in this method,
the garnish had a hard texture. In order to improve it, we have adopted
a new implantation method, fiber coating, which is an applied technology
of powder coating and uses both static electricity and air to implant
small piles in random directions.
It realized a desirable soft touch and luster, and a sophisticated
appearance in making many prototypes. We further studied how to improve
the durability and reduce costs so as to mass-produce a soft touch,
well-designed garnish.
Our new product made a debut in the market in spring in 2002 when
it was introduced to a minivan, Alphard. TG will continue to meet
the high-level of needs in the market by actively adopting new technologies
and processing methods to improve our product quality. |
