Toyoda Gosei Co., Ltd., following the announcement on November 28, 2017, by Toray Corporation and Toray Hybrid Cord, Inc. that some of Toray Hybrid Cord’s product test data had been falsified, has conducted an investigation of whether any Toyoda Gosei products have been affected based on the report from Toray Hybrid Cord. It was found that hose reinforcing fibers supplied by Toray Hybrid Cord to Toyoda Gosei included some for which test data had been falsified, and that these materials had been used in some of Toyoda Gosei’s brake hoses, oil hoses, radiator hoses, and water hoses.

Toyoda Gosei has determined that this is not immediate problems, based on the facts that the data falsification by Toray Hybrid Cord, Inc. was a minor deviation from standards and that no problems have occurred during the regular performance tests of Toyoda Gosei products during the time period in question.

With priority on consumer safety and security, Toyoda Gosei is currently confirming that its products comply with customer standards by verifying the strength of the products using past hose reinforcing fiber data possessed by Toray Hybrid Cord, based on the figures in that data range that most deviate from the standards, and re-examining whether its products have been affected by comparing regular performance test results for its products during the period in question against past data from Toray Hybrid Cord.
