Toyoda Gosei Installs LNG Equipment at Its Seto Plant to Cut CO2 Emissions

Kiyosu, Japan, January 29, 2018: Toyoda Gosei Co., Ltd. has installed liquefied natural gas (LNG) heating and cooling equipment at its Seto Plant, which manufactures automobile interior and exterior products. This switch from kerosene to LNG and electricity as an energy source will cut carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions at the plant by about 800 tons per year, equivalent to roughly 12% of total plant emissions.1

Toyoda Gosei’s long-term environmental plan with a view toward 2050, the TG 2050 Environmental Challenge, includes the goal of minimizing CO2 emissions. In working toward that goal the company aims to reduce annual CO2 emissions by 26,000 tons compared with 2012 levels by fiscal 2020. Switching energy sources is one part of that effort.

Toyoda Gosei will continue making changes and other efforts to protect the environment through all its business activities.

1Switching to LNG will also reduce sulfur oxides (SOx) and nitrogen oxides (NOx), which are causes of environmental pollution.

2Subject to the Japanese Ministry of the Environment’s ASSET (Advanced technologies promotion Subsidy Scheme with Emission reduction Targets).
