Toyoda Gosei Co., Ltd. and Citizen Electronics Co., Ltd. (Yamanashi, Japan) have entered into a patent cross-licensing agreement that will allow each company to use the other’s many patents related to LED technology, facilitating the development of LED products and their supply to the market.

This agreement will give both companies much greater freedom in developing new LED-related technologies.

The cross-licensing agreement includes basic patents related to nitride red phosphor, for which Toyoda Gosei is aggressively promoting licensing activities.

The two companies will continue to respect each other’s technologies as they accelerate the development of high-performance LEDs through fair competition with the aim of growing the market.
