Kiyosu, Japan, November 19 2020: Toyoda Gosei Co., Ltd. will show its deep UV LED products¹ at a special exhibition, Advanced Solutions for the Fight Against Infectious Disease 2020, which will be held online over four days starting on November 25. Together with the Biomedical Science Association,² they will demonstrate the high effectiveness of these products in eliminating viruses and bacteria.

Toyoda Gosei has been developing deep UV LED technology using the knowledge it has cultivated over many years in the development and production of blue LEDs. The company is applying this technology broadly to the purification of water and air with the aim of creating safer and healthier living environments. In this exhibition, it will show deep UV LED modules with waterproof and heat dissipation features, deep UV LED water purification units that purify water inside pipes, and other products.

¹ Deep UV LEDs emit short wavelength UV light that denatures the genetic material of viruses and bacteria so that they are rendered unable to proliferate (lose infectivity). These LEDs are promising as a new purifying light source that can be used in place of mercury lamps, for which there is environmental concern.
