Toyoda Gosei Concludes Licensing Agreement for LED Patent Using Red Phosphor

Kiyosu, Japan, February 13, 2019: Toyoda Gosei Co., Ltd. concluded a licensing agreement with Sanken Electric Co., Ltd. (Saitama, Japan) on December 11, 2018, regarding a patent (US No. Re41,234) of its LEDs using nitride red phosphor.

Nitride red phosphor is used in combination with blue LEDs or ultraviolet LEDs in the manufacture of high color rendering LEDs and warm color LEDs. These LEDs are used in applications such as room or space lighting and backlights for liquid crystal displays.

This agreement will allow Sanken Electric to use Toyoda Gosei’s patented technology for LEDs using nitride red phosphor.

Toyoda Gosei intends to continue expanding such licensing agreements to allow its proprietary technology to be used in the LED industry.
