Toyoda Gosei Invests in Agritree, a Startup for Solar Power Systems Using Farmland

JP Ver.

Kiyosu, Japan, April 24, 2025: Toyoda Gosei Co., Ltd. has invested1 in Agritree Co., Ltd., a company developing projects that support both farming and power generation by installing solar panels spaced over farmland.

Agritree is a startup seeking to spread a system using sunlight that is surplus to the requirement for agricultural crop growth to generate electricity (agrivoltaics). By stabilizing agricultural income in addition to the profit gained from selling electricity, the company aims to help solve the social problem of declining numbers of agricultural workers and a lack of successors to take over farms. This will contribute to the revitalization of rural areas.

Toyoda Gosei is moving ahead with ways to save energy and expand its use of renewable energy to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030. In collaboration with Agritree, it will explore ways to decrease environmental impacts, such as by purchasing renewable electricity and environmental value credit or certificates,2 generated on farmland.

1 Investment made in April 2025, through Toyoda Gosei's Corporate Venture Capital Dept., an internal organization dedicated to these investments.

2 Systems to certify the value of electricity produced by renewable energy sources without CO₂ emissions.
