Switch to renewable energy at Inazawa Plant
Toyoda Gosei Achieves Medium-Term Target for Renewable Energy Use in Japan toward Carbon Neutrality
Kiyosu, Japan, May 19, 2025: Toyoda Gosei Co., Ltd. has switched to electricity derived from renewable energy sources1 for part of the electricity used at the company’s Inazawa Plant, which produces interior and exterior products.2 With this, Toyoda Gosei has achieved the company’s medium-term target for the increase of renewable energy to 20% by FY2025 at its locations in Japan on a path toward carbon neutrality.
Toyoda Gosei has declared that it is bringing forward to 2030 the timing for the achievement of carbon neutrality in CO2 emissions generated in its own production activities (Scope 1 and 2). The company is accelerating its energy savings from production technology innovations and its transition to renewable energy for electricity. The company aims to be using 100% renewable energy within Japan by 2030, for which it will expand the use of renewable energy through the best combination of purchasing green energy and non-fossil certificates3 and installing its own solar power generation facilities.
1 Electricity generated using natural sources including the sun, wind and biomass.
2 With this switch, annual CO2 emissions at the plant are reduced by about 900 tons compared with the previous year.
3 Certification of the environmental value of renewable energy that does not emit CO2.
