JP Ver.

Kiyosu, Japan, August 29, 2025: Toyoda Gosei Co., Ltd. has invested1 in KG Motors Inc., a startup that develops and manufactures ultra-compact2 battery electric vehicles (BEVs) for single users.

KG Motors aims to spread economical and environmentally-friendly mobility suited to short-distance travel for areas where public transport systems are difficult to maintain because of declining populations or other issues. The company’s strengths lie in the design of low-cost, innovative vehicles that combine light weight with plastic exteriors and a simplified structure centered on original monocoque body technology.3 It also uses a marketing method that approaches consumers directly on SNS.

In Toyoda Gosei’s medium- to long-term business plan (2030 Business Plan), the company aims to provide safety to society through the realization of new mobility. This investment will help to deepen the company’s knowledge in the field of compact mobility.

1 Investment made in July 2025, through Toyoda Gosei's Corporate Venture Capital Dept., an internal organization dedicated to these investments.

2 Here, this refers to “minicars” with a total length of ≤2.5 meters and width of ≤1.3 meters. In Japan, these cars can be driven on general public roads except for expressways. A driving license is required, and legally they are treated as small motorized two-wheelers such as scooters or mopeds.

3 Monocoque body refers to a structural system in which the chassis is integral with the body, forming a lightweight, highly rigid structural skin. KG Motors has succeeded in significantly reducing the number of molds, mainly by adopting front-rear symmetry in the body shape. This lowers costs and achieves an ideal front-rear balance. In addition, by employing an original body shape and high tensile steel sheets in appropriate places, they provide both the highest level of collision safety and lighter weight in a microcar.
