Toyoda Gosei Develops Electric Hidden Register for Car Air Conditioning

JP Ver.

Kiyosu, Japan, April 17, 2026: Toyoda Gosei Co., Ltd. has developed a register (vent) for automobile air conditioners with an unobtrusive aperture for higher designability of automobile cabin. These registers are used on the Toyota bZ7 released in China in March 2026.

With the advances of electrified and autonomous vehicles, automobile interiors have been changing conceptually from simple movement spaces to more comfortable, relaxing spaces akin to living rooms. This includes rising needs for instrument panels with sleek appearances.

Using flow analysis simulation technology, Toyoda Gosei has incorporated an airflow direction control mechanism that optimizes the flow of air in the register. This has enabled to hide the fins to adjust the air flow up and down, which previously thickened apertures, leading to seamless design of the instrument panel that integrates the register without deteriorating air conditioning comfort. Advanced look is also added with a change from conventional manual operation to electronic control on the screen.
