Leading to a future of
better mobility and living

To achieve our vision of being a “company that contributes to a future of better mobility and living,” as laid out in Toyoda Gosei’s medium- and long-term business plan (2030 Business Plan), we are undertaking a range of efforts leveraging the technology and knowledge we have cultivated in the automotive parts field to help achieve a decarbonized society and support healthy and comfortable living.

At the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo, many different technologies and ideas for next-generation society and living are introduced from countries and companies around the world, under the theme of “Designing Future Society for Our Lives.” At Toyoda Gosei, we also hope to expand possibilities that can contribute to society for the future through participation in the Osaka-Kansai Expo.

Significance of conducting demonstration trials at the Expo

Toyoda Gosei sees the Osaka-Kansai Expo as a place to show our leading-edge technologies and services to the world, and we have collaborated actively with partner companies from the conceptual stage.

At the Expo site, we are conducting demonstration trials of next-generation technologies we are currently developing. This is a place to confront the issues and needs of society, providing a valuable opportunity to receive direct feedback from people as they experience these technologies. The ability to test products from multiple angles, including practicality and safety, through contact with visitors who hold diverse values is a huge strength in research and development.

We will continue to refine these technologies and improve their practicality based on the knowledge obtained in these demonstration trials, leading to future implementation in society and business development.

Smartwear

  • Product introduction
  • Voice of developer

Perovskite solar cells are thinner and lighter in weight than existing solar cells, and their high level of flexibility makes them easy to fit on curved surfaces. Perovskite cells are said to enable low-cost, high-efficiency power generation, and they are promising for the spread of renewable energy. As one product application, Toyoda Gosei has created prototype “smartwear” that has these cells attached to clothing. The electricity generated powers personal cooling fans and various other devices.
Some staff members of the Yoshimoto waraii myraii Pavilion are wearing this smartwear to test its durability.

As we were considering new ways to use perovskite solar cells that take advantage of their characteristics of thinness, lightness, and bendability, we came on the idea of smartwear in which these cells attached to clothes. We continued development each day to enable use by a wide range of people, from event staff to forestry workers. Through a large-scale demonstration trial at the Expo, we are obtaining real data that are difficult to obtain in the laboratory. We hope that analyzing these data in various ways will lead to commercialization.

As a technology that contributes to resource recycling, mats using recycled scrap from automotive rubber products are decorated and placed on a pavilion floor.
Mats that effectively use scrap material reduce the environmental impact during manufacturing, and provide full cushioning to achieve both comfort and environmental friendliness.
Their durability is being tested at the Yoshimoto waraii myraii Pavilion.

Digital signage for next-generation
“smart pole” infrastructure

—Eggs of Possibilities
Future Life Expo, Future City

Smartpoles are promising as a part of next-generation infrastructure equipped with various functions for uses such as communication and disaster prevention. Toyoda Gosei considers them to be a place to deploy different types of technology, including the perovskite solar cells the company is developing. To start, we made curved digital signage for smartpoles, and are now testing its visibility and durability outdoors.

Portable hydrogen cartridge

  • Product introduction
  • Voice of developer

Power generated using hydrogen is promising as next-generation energy that does not emit CO2 during use, and wider use of hydrogen will contribute to a decarbonized society. With the aim of using hydrogen for a wider range of purposes, Toyoda Gosei is utilizing the efficient hydrogen storage technology we cultivated in developing a high-pressure hydrogen tank for the Mirai fuel cell vehicle. At the Osaka-Kansai Expo, tanks made by Toyoda Gosei are being used in smoothy machines at Seven Eleven.

I am delighted to be able to demonstrate portable hydrogen cartridges at this special place, the Osaka-Kansai Expo. I see this as a good opportunity for many people to feel the potential of hydrogen as a familiar and easy-to-use energy source. We will continue our efforts to develop hydrogen tanks that can be used safely and with assurance to make hydrogen a normal part of life in the future.

  • Product introduction
  • Voice of developer

Gait peculiarities and patterns are measured with rubber pressure sensors incorporated in shoe insoles. AI is then used to analyze the health condition of the individual from the obtained data. At the Osaka Healthcare Pavilion, we introduce our efforts to provide a healthcare service that creates opportunities to review living habits and improve the way people move.

With advances in wearable devices, AI and cloud services, healthcare is transforming from the conventional approach of “going to the hospital when you get sick” to digital healthcare in which conditions are detected with constant measurements in the daily environment and early intervention is made. We are developing and providing services that use the high-quality data obtained from the material properties of e-Rubber, which are close to those of the living body, and conducting activities to contribute to the reduction of social welfare spending.

portable handwashing stand

WOSH

The WOTA Corp. handwashing stand is equipped with a Toyoda Gosei UV-C LED water purification unit. High water purification performance is achieved with UV-C irradiation, so that water can be used repeatedly. Water can then be provided in places where a water supply is not readily available, such as outdoors, supporting safety in daily life.
